France Football magazine has revealed the 30 players in the running for the 2024 edition of the women’s Ballon d’Or, currently held by FC Barcelona and Spain star Aitana Bonmati.The award recognizes the best female player in the world in the past season, with players who won the UEFA Champions League with Barcelona and those who won Olympic gold with the United States heavily represented among the candidates.
Ada Hegerberg, the first winner of this award since its creation in 2018, is back in the running thanks to her past injury and her return to full form with Lyon.Bonmati will be among the favourites, giving her the chance to match her clubmate Alexia Putellas’ second straight win, while USWNT captain Lindsey Horan and Barcelona counterpart Caroline Graham Hansen should be very competitive.
