Fenerbahçe have taken a major step in their bid to secure the future of Bright Osayi Samuel as two English clubs are reportedly interested in the Nigerian star.
With the 26-year-old’s contract expiring at the end of the season, the club has been hastening negotiations to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
According to reports published in the Turkish media, one of the English clubs is interested in the Premier League and the other in the Championship.
This interest prompted Fenerbahçe to increase negotiations with Osayi Samuel and plan to meet with him in January to reach an agreement on the contract transfer.
Osayi Samuel, who joined Fenerbahçe from QPR for €508,000 in 2021, is expected to ask for a fee, as negotiations have been delayed.
Despite this, the club is struggling to keep hold of the player, who has made 145 appearances, 7 goals and 14 assists in all competitions since joining the club.
Osayi Samuel has played in six games this season and recorded one assist.
However, his progress was hampered by an ankle injury picked up in Fenerbahçe’s Europa League match against Union SG, he was sent off after coming on as a substitute.
As a result, this Nigerian defender was not available for the recent meeting with Antalyaspor.
Fenerbahçe enjoyed Osayi-Samuel’s absence as the club won 2-0 in a match in which manager Jose Mourinho was chastised for playing with his computers.
With this win, Fener moved up to second place in the Turkish Super League table behind Victor Osimhen’s Galatasaray.
