Liverpool have agreed a £12.5million deal with Juventus to sign Italian striker Federico Chiesa.
The 26-year-old’s transfer fee is £10million, plus £2.5million in bonuses, mainly based on his first-team performance. Liverpool are expected to offer him a four-year contract at Anfield.
“I’m really happy and ready for this new adventure,” he told of his impending move to Liverpool. “I want to thank the Juventus fans, thanks for all the affection over the years, I’ll keep you in my heart, thanks Juventus.
“I’m really, really happy, we can’t wait, me and my family.”
FC Barcelona are also said to be interested in Chiesa, but they are struggling to clear their wage bill in order to sign him, with interest from Saudi Arabia said to be the biggest competition for Liverpool to get his signature.
Chiesa joined Juventus on a permanent deal in 2022 after an initial two-year loan from Fiorentina and played 98 games for the Turin club, scoring 32 goals in 131 games in all competitions, including 21 times and 98 Serie A games.
Chiesa was also a key role in Italy’s success at Euro 2021, especially in the final where Roberto Mancini’s side beat England 2-1 at Wembley.
Chiesa will become Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s second new signing this summer, after the Reds recently agreed to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili for £25m plus £4m in bonus, though and the Georgian national will remain at the LaLiga club until next summer.
