Liverpool Secure Deals For 2 Wingers

Liverpool have agreed deals for teenage wingers Ben Doak and Trent Kone-Doherty.

Liverpool struck on terms with Celtic for 16-year-old Doak – who has already made his first-team debut for the Bhoys.

The fee is around £500,000, including add-ons, with the youngster signing a long-term agreement with the Reds.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou, who started Doak against Dundee United, had admitted that he does not want players at the club who don’t want to play for them.

He said:

“I’ve said all along my role is to look after the footballers that want to be here.

The footballers that don’t want to be here? There’s another avenue there for them.”

Sportdaylight understands that Leeds, Newcastle and Everton were also keen on Doak, but the player opted for Anfield.

Another player to opt for Liverpool ahead of a host of clubs is Irish youngster Trent Kone-Doherty.

15-year-old Kone-Doherty has already made the bench for Derry City and is a Republic of Ireland youth international.

However, because he is Derry-born, which is part of the United Kingdom, it means he can move to England this summer,

rather than wait until he is 18, which would have have been the case had he been born south of the border and considered an international transfer.

Manchester United and Manchester City were also in contention for the teenager – but a deal is being finalised with Liverpool instead.
