Manchester City are unbeaten in the Premier League since December 2023 and will look to extend their impressive run against Brentford at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Citizens have made a good start to the 2024/25 campaign and are looking for a fifth Premier League title, seeing off Chelsea, Ipswich Town and West Ham United with little fuss. Erling Holland has scored in three wins and has two goals this season.
Pep Guardiola’s side will be strengthened by the return of Rodri, who played in the national holidays for the first time since Euro 2024, but the Spaniard will be without Oscar Bob and Nathan Ake at the weekend . Phil Foden’s availability and summer signing Savinho are also in doubt, giving Brentford little hope.
With the Champions League kicking off in midweek, this is how Man City will be at home to the Bees.
Man City predicted lineup vs Brentford (4-1-4-1)
GK: Ederson – As he was only a substitute for the matches in Brazil, Ederson will be fit for Saturday’s game. He may not be tested regularly, but attacking duo Brian Mbomo and Yoan Wisa arrive at United in strong form.
RB: Rico Lewis – Kyle Walker’s return from Euro 2024 has opened the door for Lewis early in the campaign and the youngster has excelled at right-back. His performances earned him a call-up to the England senior team in September.
CB: Manuel Akanji – The Swiss defender has started the 2024/25 season in impressive form, keeping John Stones out of Manchester City’s XI. There’s no reason why he shouldn’t start on Saturday – other than Pep Roulette, of course.
CB: Ruben Diaz – Diaz didn’t show his glory last season with his own goal against West Ham, but he will remain a key member of Man City’s backline regardless of the opposition.
LB: Josko Gvardiol – Guardiol was unable to provide the attacking power from the left-back as he did in the latter stages of last season. Luiz’s presence in midfield has limited his ability to get forward.
DM: Rodri – Although Manchester City have not lost without Rodri, they will surely return to the Spanish anchor with open arms. He will be more and more in popular games, but his standards will not fall.
RM: Savinho – The electric winger missed the 3-1 win at West Ham with a minor physical problem, but Guardiola said he will be available after the international break. He has made a huge impact on the champions.
CM: Bernardo Silva – The little Portuguese hero can play in central midfield, attacking midfield or on the wings, that’s what he knows. He is likely to switch between a deep and advanced position against Brentford.
CM: Kevin De Bruyne – Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet against West Ham, but De Bruyne cleaned up in the last home game. The 33-year-old scored and assisted against Ipswich and scored in international competitions.
LM: Jack Grealish – Two impressive performances for England’s Lee Carsley shows Grealish’s continued flow, although he will appear in a bigger role for the Three Lions. Competing with Jeremy Duko on the left, the former Aston Villa man should get the points on Saturday.
ST: Erling Holland – With seven goals in his first three Premier League games, Gullstøvel’s number three is heading to Norway. He will have a chance to score in the third consecutive game this week.
