Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has confirmed he’ll be without Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay for the game against Everton.
Manchester United travel to Goodison Park for Saturday’s early kick-off in indifferent form, having picked up just seven points from a possible 15 in the Premier League.
Fortunately, their hosts are in dreadful touch under Frank Lampard, with Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat at Burnley leaving Everton just a point above the relegation zone.
Speaking to the media ahead of the game, Rangnick confirmed the injury status of a number of players in his squad,
while he also played down talk of Erik ten Hag’s possible appointment as Manchester United’s next permanent manager.

Rangnick on Manchester United injuries:
“Cristiano Ronaldo is back again, Luke is still injured, we had to take him off at half-time (against Leicester), he’s had his problems with his leg where he had the operation in 2015.
“The doctor told me they decided to remove two metal bolts in his leg and this will happen tomorrow and he will be out for the next two or three weeks.
“Cavani is still injured, Raphael Varane is still injured and will be missing out again tomorrow and the same is true for Scott McTominay, he’s having problems with the sole of his foot.”
Rangnick on facing Everton:
“For tomorrow, it’s definitely the most important part.
Character, energy and commitment, winning the game in the atmosphere that will be probably pretty similar to the one at Leeds.
“We’re all aware of the importance of the game for both sides.
For me, game plan and tactics is one thing for tomorrow, but probably the most important thing is mentality and attitude.”
Rangnick on United’s development and lack of consistency:
“I was not surprised. I knew that from the start. When you see the whole process over the last four and a half months,
I think we have developed the team in some areas, but as you’ve said, it’s all about being consistent and consistency.
“This is what we have to start. We have to start tomorrow with the best possible performance.”
Rangnick on potential Ten Hag appointment:
“I think this is the press conference for tomorrow’s game and I don’t intend to speak about any possible new managers here.
From what I know, all the managers with whom the club have so far spoken are top managers, top coaches.
If this includes Erik ten Hag, then it’s also true with him. That’s all I can say at this stage.
“I know which coaches they have spoken to so far and that’s why I can say all of the coaches that have spoken to are top coaches.”
