Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has proven that his legendary status in Egypt isn’t just because of his football ability.
Mohamed Salah is understood to have made a huge donation to help rebuild a church destroyed by a deadly fire.
An estimated 1,000 Coptic Christian worshippers gathered for Mass at the Abu Sifin church on Sunday with officials of the belief that an electric fault in the air conditioning unit led to the fire.
At least 41 people died, 18 of which are thought to be children, in the blaze in Giza, an Egyptian city that is located across the river Nile from capital city, Cairo.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has ordered the armed forces to rebuild the church, something that will be aided with the help of Salah.

Salah has donated three million Egyptian dollars which equates to £129,706, OnTime Sports reports.
It’s not the first time that the Liverpool hero has showed his selfless nature, being named eighth in The Sunday Times‘ 2022 charitable list.
The Times estimates that the forward has recently given away £2.5million.
Salah’s most notable donation came in 2019 when he donated £2.4million to the National Cancer Institute in Cairo after is was damaged by a car bomb.
He’s also helped to build a hospital, school, youth centre and ambulance unit in Nagrig,
as well as donating five acres of land for a waste treatment plant, allowing residents to have a safe source of clean water.
