Man Utd Fefender Axel Tuanzebe Joins Napoli On Loan

Axel Tuanzebe’s loan move from Manchester United to Napoli for the remainder of the season has been confirmed, cutting short his previous spell at Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old centre-back, whose chances at Villa suddenly became limited by a change in manager,

and subsequent change in formation, now joins a Napoli side still just about in the Serie A title race and on course to return to the Champions League.

Tuanzebe is under contract in Manchester until 2023 with the option of another year and the loan doesn’t appear to include an option to make it a permanent transfer.

Napoli are believed to have agreed to pay an initial £500,000 for the loan, with additional bonus payments potentially taking it up to £1m in total by the end of the season.

Tuanzebe was once hailed as a star of the future at Old Trafford.

He joined the academy ranks at the age of eight, won the club’s prized Jimmy Murphy Player of the Year award in 2015 and was unusually captain of the Under-18 team while still a first year scholar.

Tuanzebe’s first-team debut came under Jose Mourinho’s leadership in January 2017,

and he has made 37 senior appearances for United to date.

The player enjoyed a successful loan at Aston Villa in 2018/19 as the club won promotion from the Championship

But his young career has been unfortunately hampered by a number of injuries.

It was hoped that a return to Villa on loan this season would have given Tuanzebe his first real opportunity to play regular Premier League football.

But it hasn’t worked out that way and his expected switch to Italian football is a fresh chance to prove himself.

Serie A has proven to be a good option for English centre-backs in recent times, with Chris Smalling and FIkayo Tomori relaunching stalling careers with Roma and AC Milan respectively.

Any Further New Arrivals At Old Trafford Would Be A "Bonus",

Manchester United have already strength the team with the  likes of Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho,

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer  has now made it clear no more new Signing

The Red Devil’s Boss has suggested that Manchester United are unlikely to make further additions in the summer transfer window,

although, did confess that “you never know in the world of football”.

United have been linked with the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Kieran Trippier and Saul Niguez,

with there still being time for deals to be done ahead of the August 31 deadline.

Solskjaer, though, insists that any further new arrivals at Old Trafford would be a “bonus”,

claiming that he doesn’t expect there to be much activity at the club before the window closes.

What was  said?

“I don’t think much is going to happen. If something happens, it is a bonus. You never know what happens in the world of football.

“But we’ve had a very good window. I am happy with what we’ve done.”

Man Utd’s done deal so far

United have been active in the transfer window already, with their first signing of the summer,

having been former Aston Villa goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who has returned to Old Trafford for a second spell with the club.

Solskjaer then landed Sancho from Dortmund in a deal worth around £73 million ($101m).

The Red Devils finally getting their man having chased the England international’s signature for a while now.

Real Madrid centre-back Varane was the third player to have completed a switch to join United in the summer transfer window.

The World Cup winner, who was required to quarantine when he arrived in the UK,

and, hasn’t yet made his debut for the club, arrived for a cut-price fee of £40m ($55m),

with his contract at the Bernabeu having been due to expire in 2022.

As for outgoings

The likes of Axel Tuanzebe, Tahith Chong, Facundo Pellistri, James Garner and Brandon Williams have all been allowed to leave on loan,

with the latter having joined Norwich City until the end of the season.
