After starting life under their new manager with a draw against Wolves, victories over Burnley, Tottenham and Sheffield United have followed.

Chelsea had won just two of their previous eight matches with former manager in charge before Frank Lampard was sacked. This left them sitting at the ninth place in the table.

Werner said;

“If we go back three or four matches, when the manager was not yet here, we were nine or ten points behind the top four.

“We watched the table and were like, ‘oh, it might not be so good at the end of the season’.

“Now we are really good, back in shape, and I think if we keep going like this we can put more pressure on the other teams.

However, Chelsea & Timo Werner are ready to overtake any of the four teams currently at the top to finish this 2020/21 Premier League campaign at top four.

Chelsea have now slipped to 8th place in the table, with reports emerging claiming the club is considering firing Lampard if the team’s poor performances continue.

When asked about the mounting pressure on him, Lampard said:

“I’m not concerned on that point.

“I expected periods of difficulty this year. I said it when we beat Leeds and everyone was championing us to be title contenders. I know that it doesn’t come that easy, I know where we’re at.

“Whether it puts pressure on me is regardless. Because a month ago, everyone was asking when I would sign a new contract, and now people will be saying different things because over a tight, busy period, we’ve lost four games of football.”

Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has revealed that some players in his squad are struggling with COVID-19 for longer than others.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea Sunday’s Premier League clash against Manchester City, Lampard admitted it has been “very challenging” for his medical staff.

Coronavirus is once again affecting the league schedule, with Everton’s fixture against Manchester City, Tottenham’s game at Fulham, and Burnley’s meeting with Scott Parker’s side all recently called off.

The outbreak also threatened the clash between Chelsea and City, but the game is still set to go ahead, despite both camps struggling with omissions.

Pep Guardiola’s side is missing five players, while the Blues are without two members of staff.

When asked to describe the situation, Lampard told Sky Sports:

“Very challenging, not just for me but the medical team and sports science because some players are asymptomatic and come back training within a few days and reach their top level, but then there are some players who take longer.

“They report tiredness and fatigue and because everything is so new, we don’t have anything to gauge it by. We don’t have the right methods to know how to get players back to a level as quickly as possible.

“It’s not just us but a problem for the league. This year is different and will be different until we get to the other side.”
