‘He Has Pace, Aggressive’_ Takehiro Tomiyasu Names Arsenal Team Mate He Fears In Training.

Arsenal right back Takehiro Tomiyasu reveals the Gunners team-mate he least likes to face in training, highlighting his “aggression”.

The Japanese defender would have plenty of options to choose from in the Gunners squad, with a number of young attacking talents at Mikel Arteta’s disposal.

Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard have both in superb form this season,

as was Gabriel Jesus before his season-disrupting injury at the World Cup, but it is another Brazilian that Tomiyasu plumped for.

Martinelli has been in superb form for the Gunners this season, netting seven goals and providing two assists in the Premier League. Only captain Martin Odegaard has more goals (eight).

Tomiyasu names “aggressive” Arsenal star
Speaking to GOAL, Tomiyasu replied: “Gabriel Martinelli. He never stops.

He has pace, aggression. He’s still young, but when he has the ball he wants to make the difference, he wants to do something.’

Tomiysasu has featured regularly this season, but often as a substitute, making just four Premier League starts so far this campaign.

With the emergence of William Saliba at centre-back, Ben White has been moved to right-back and taken the Japanese star’s spot in that position.

The 24-year-old, of course, would rather be starting regularly, but accepts the competition for places, especially with Arsenal doing so well at the top of the Premier League.

He said:

‘You have to accept the reality.’ ‘Ben White has been doing very well. He is fantastic.

‘Of course I want to play from the start. The only thing I can do is prove my value on the pitch and show what I can do.

‘I just want to help the team. It doesn’t matter if I’m playing from the start or not. When I’m on the pitch I give everything.’

Arsenal hoping to extend the lead at the top when they are facing Everton in an early kick on Saturday.

Arsenal Duo Martinelli And Gabriel Jesus Named in Brazil 26 Man World Cup Squad

Arsenal duo Gabriel And Gabriel Jesus  have been included in the Brazil squad for the 2022 World Cup, while Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino and Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes have not made the cut.

Jesus had previously been left out of the most recent Brazil squad for the games in September, however he was always been a favourite to go to the World Cup.

The striker, who joined Arsenal in the summer from Manchester City for £45million, has impressed this season at Emirates Stadium

and is keen to thrive for Brazil in Qatar after failing to score at the last World Cup in 2018.

Jesus will be joined in the Brazil squad by Martinelli, who has seemingly got the nod ahead of Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino.

The 21-year-old has found the net five times during the current campaign and he has been in fine form for Arsenal this season.

Martinelli is part of a strong Brazil attack, which includes Neymar, Raphinha and Vinicius Junior.

Arsenal centre-back Gabriel, who scored the winner against Chelsea on Sunday, will be disappointed to not make the cut.

He has been in good form this season but Brazil boss Tite has several options at centre-back, with Eder Militao, Gleison Bremer, Marquinhos and Thiago Silva the four chosen to go.

In total there are 12 Premier League players in Brazil’s 26-man squad, with goalkeepers Alisson and Ederson making it.

Chelsea’s Silva is the only defender from England to go, but the midfield is stacked with Premier League talent – including Lucas Paqueta of West Ham.

Bruno Guimaraes, Casemiro, Fabinho and Fred are also going to Qatar.

In attack, Antony of Manchester United has made the cut and so has Tottenham’s Richarlison.

‘They're Playing Like They Have Infinity Stones.’_ Lan Wright Praises Arsenal Duo

Former Arsenal player Ian Wright believes Arsenal duo Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba are ‘playing like they have Infinity Stones’.

Lan Wright could not hide his delight at the Gunners London derby victory.

The 3-1 victory make Arsenal’s  extend their leading at the top of the Premier League table.

It also spoiled Spurs’ unbeaten start to an end and marked revenge for Arsenal, who missed out on a top four spot last season to Antonio Conte’s side.

Wright feels that Martinelli and Saliba are playing like they have Infinity Stones,

which are fictional items from the Avengers movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which give whoever owns them strong and mysterious powers.

Wright:

‘It’s a great day.’ ‘It’s a phenomenal performance.

You see Granit Xhaka, it’s like he has a new lease of life.

Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba are playing like they have Infinity Stones.’

But it was White who Wright was particularly impressed with as he singled out the defender for praise.

Wright continue:

‘When you look at the way Arsenal have improved – more shots, higher turnovers,

possession won in the final third… the one player that epitomised that  for me today was Ben White.’

‘He was magnificent. Tottenham gave him a lot of space.

That was a fantastic performance – the most touches anyone had today was Ben White. So pleased for him.’

Wright also gave his opinion on the red card shown to Tottenham’s Emerson Royal after 62 minutes.

‘When you look at what’s happening, I think it summed up Emerson Royal’s game really.’

‘He’s going back towards his own goal, there’s no reason to make that challenge.’

Arsenal Confirm New Shirt Number For Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli will wear the club’s number 11 shirt next season after trading down from the number 35 jersey he has held since first arriving in north London in 2019.

The Gunners launched their new 2022/23 home kit on Thursday morning, with fans quickly noticing the availability of ‘Martinelli 11’ shirts instead of ‘Martinelli 35’.

Having struggled at the start of the season during a difficult period for the whole squad,

the young Brazilian has come into his own since November and has 10 Premier League goal involvements to his name 28 appearances going into the final round of fixtures.

The number 11 has been worn by several Arsenal legends over the decades,

including iconic 1971 double winner Charlie George.

Liam Brady and George Armstrong also sometimes wore it in the days before squad numbers,

despite both being far more typically associate with number seven.

In the Premier League era, 11 has been worn by the likes of Robin van Persie, Mesut Ozil, Marc Overmars and Sylvain Wiltord, as well as Martin Odegaard last season.

It has been vacant this season after Odegaard switched to number eight when he returned to north London for a permanent transfer from Real Madrid.

Other less successful Arsenal number 11s include Carlos Vela, Lucas Torreira and Andre Santos.
