Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammate Salem Al-Najdi fainted while celebrating the Portuguese’s winning goal for Al-Nasr against Al-Ryan.
The Saudi Arabian football team faced off against Qatari rivals in the Asian Championship. Nasr’s captain also stepped up when needed and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo grabbed the big goal in a 2-1 win.
Ronaldo’s goal came in the 76th minute, and Al Najdi was on the bench at the time due to an ankle injury in the first half. According to Al-Riyaziah, the 21-year-old defender jumped out of his seat when he saw the ball hit the net.
Al-Najdi reportedly hit his head on the roof of the pit and passed out for several minutes. The game was stopped when medical staff took the defender back to the dressing room for treatment and decided he would not need to go to the hospital.
At the end of the match, Al-Najdi left the stadium on his feet, and Stefano Pioli, the head coach of the team, told reporters: “This player is suffering from bleeding high, and we will follow what concerns him.” Al-Nasr, with Ronaldo again in goal, will play Al-Arouba on Saturday.
