Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson confirmed that midfielder George Evans will undergo ankle surgery and will be out for “months”.
The 29-year-old picked up the injury in Wrexham’s 1-0 defeat to Stevenage Town on Sunday, with club boss Parkinson describing the return as a “huge” blow. The former Millwall man is on the sidelines for the long haul.
“All we can do is to do the surgery as soon as possible and give him the best life for the future,” he said, via Athletic, he knows that more injury, so I don’t. need time for surgery, but with George it will take months.
Despite a penalty against the Red Dragons, Evans has yet to feature for Parkinson’s side this season – starting just one of his five League One games. Moreover, they are still second in the table and in a good position after nine matches. But losing a player to injury is not a good thing.
Wrexham will look to get back to winning ways in League One on Saturday evening when they host Northampton Town at Stoke K Ross, before taking on Wolves U21s at the EFL Cup three days later.
