Arsenal's Pursuit of Leroy Sane Suffers a Blow as Bayern Munich Offer New Contract

Arsenal’s interest in signing Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane this summer has reportedly hit a roadblock.

The 29-year-old Germany international has been a key player for Bayern, making 212 appearances and scoring 59 goals since joining the club in 2020.

Sane’s Future Uncertain

Sane’s contract is set to expire at the end of June, and negotiations over an extension have stalled.

However, Bayern chief Max Eberl is planning to offer Sane a new contract, with a deal until 2028 being discussed.

Sane’s performances have been increasingly convincing, and he is said to be eager to stay at Bayern.

Sane Committed to Bayern

Despite interest from Arsenal, Sane is willing to accept a salary reduction to remain at Bayern.

He has expressed his commitment to the club, stating, “I’m not going to deal with it at the moment, I’m going to concentrate on Bayern and try to be as successful as possible with the team.”

Bayern determined to keep Sane

Eberl has emphasized Bayern’s desire to keep Sane, saying, “We know what we have in Leroy. We’ll do our job, and if we think it’s the right thing to do for Leroy, we’ll do it.” Bayern is keen to avoid losing Sane for free this summer and is working to make a decision on his future.

Alternative Target for Arsenal

If Arsenal misses out on signing Sane, the club may turn its attention to Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams.

Arteta’s side is reportedly leading the way for his signature, and Williams could be an attractive alternative to Sane.
