Neymar Sustained Ankle Injury Against Serbia And Set To Miss Brazil’s Final Group Matches

Brazil’s skilful man Neymar suffered ankle injury against Serbia clash and the PSG Wenger  expected to miss final two World Cup group matches together with full-back Danilo.

Neymar was forced off with a sprained ankle during Brazil’s 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday

and appeared to be in tears as he watched the conclusion of the contest from the bench.

Selecao boss Tite said post-match he was ‘confident’ the 30-year-old will still have a role to

play but the favourites for the competition will have to navigate through their remaining group matches without their talisman.

In a further injury headache for Tite, full-back Danilo is also expected to miss the Switzerland

and Cameroon games with an injury of his own, hobbling through the final minutes of last night’s win.

Team Doctor said:

‘Neymar and Danilo went through a MRI on Friday afternoon and we found ligament damage in the ankle of both of them.’

‘It is important to be calm and evaluate day by day.

The idea is to recover them for the rest of the competition.’

Real Madrid’s Eder Militao is expected to come into replace him. 39-year-old Dani Alves is another option.

Real Madrid starlet Rodrygo meanwhile is the favourite to replace Neymar in the starting XI, according to reports in Brazil.

Brazil take on Switzerland on Monday before closing their group campaign against Cameroon on Friday.

Neymar has struggled with ankle problems in the past and while his latest issue is a setback, Tite insisted on Thursday it is not a serious one.

He told a press conference: ‘We are confident that Neymar will continue playing in the World Cup.’

Brazil sealed victory over Serbia through a brace from Tottenham forward Richarlison,

justifying his selection with a sensational goal of the tournament contender.

Tire:

‘I think this was an important victory with many wins in the same game. (In the first half) this wasn’t our normal standard.’

‘In the second half we repositioned people and we improved technique.

‘I had six, seven names to call (on) and, whoever I called, we would have had a great team.

‘Richarlison is fantastic. We see how he controls a ball, it goes up and he adjusts all his plans.’

Christophe Galtier: How Could Neymar Not Be In My Plans?

Paris Saint-Germain presented their new head coach, Christophe Galtier, on Tuesday morning and the new boss has already made clear that he wants to keep Neymar around.

There has been speculation about Neymar’s future in Paris this off-season.

And many onlookers observed that the Brazilian didn’t seem to be prominently featured in the promotional images for the club’s new home kit.

✓: PSG Confirm Departure Of Mauricio Pochettino

However, Galtier, has said he expects Neymar to stay and that he’s a player anyone would want.

“[Neymar] is a world class player, what coach wouldn’t want that player in their team?” said Galtier.

“Of course, you have to have a balance, but I’m clear on what I want from him and I’m sure he’ll stay with us.

“Because we want the best people here.”

The Parisian squad isn’t short of star power in the forward line and Galtier is delighted that he will get the chance to work with Kylian Mbappe.

“As a French coach, I’m happy he’s staying at PSG. It’s good for our football and for the club,” said Galtier.

“He’s one of the best in the world, but we shouldn’t put all the responsibility on him.

There are other players too and if we play as a team we’ll have a great season.

“We shouldn’t put any extra pressure on him. I expect him to be a decisive player as always, but he remains a strong player within a group.”

Galtier also spoke about how he wants his PSG team to play this coming season and he is looking for fast, dominant football.

“Before talking about the system, I want to see intensity, winning the ball back quickly, pressing,”

“I haven’t spoken with the group yet. We’re thinking about a three-man defence but we’ll have time to look at that.

You win more when you play well. Compared to my previous clubs, there will be a different focus.

“PSG often has possession. We will have to be able to attack well and keep the right balance.”

Galtier mentioned that the presence of football adviser Luis Campos was key to his joining PSG

and that he looks forward to working with him again. The pair previously coincided at Lille, where Campos was sporting director between 2017 and 2020.

“Before [signings] we need to work. Luis [Campos] is in charge of that, I’ve worked a lot with Campos and I can say that he has never brought in a player without me having a say,”

“I look after the day-to-day as well and if there are things I don’t like I intervene, but first I also share it with Luis and we decide.”

Lionel Messi Will Officially Have ‘GOAT’ On His PSG Shirt Next Season

Lionel Messi will officially have the ‘GOAT’ acronym on his Paris Saint-Germain shirt next season, with many believing this confirms his status as the greatest of all time.

But, of course, it’s not just Messi – the whole PSG team will have the abbreviation on their kits thanks to a new sponsorship deal.

GOAT, one of the leading marketplaces for trainers, clothing and accessories, signed a deal to sponsor the PSG shirt for the upcoming season.

They will have their brand name on the sleeve of the French champions’ new shirts – and there was only one player who was going to model it.

Messi, who is entering his second season at PSG after sensationally leaving boyhood club

Barcelona last year, proudly donned the new jersey, showing off the ‘GOAT’ logo.

The Parisians will be hoping the kit, which features a large white vertical stripe with red trim down the middle, is the one that they finally win the Champions League in.

Kylian Mbappe, Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe, Achraf Hakimi, and Marco Verratti

were also present for the club’s 2022/23 official home kit release,

Women’s stars Sakina Karchaoui and Grace Geyoro joined the men’s squad for the promotional material.

Neymar was also seen in the new kit, which could mean that he will still be in the French capital next season, despite talk that he could leave.

There have been rumours that each one of their world-class trio could depart (Mbappe, in particular, before he signed a new deal with the club), with both Neymar and Messi linked with a return to Barcelona.

But if donning the new kit means you’re staying at the club, then PSG will still have all three superstars for the upcoming season.
