Chelsea came from behind to round off their successful Champions League Group E campaign with victory against Dinamo Zagreb at Stamford Bridge.

The hosts had already wrapped up top spot with a game to spare but were looking to respond after they were stunned 4-1 in the Premier League by Brighton on Saturday.

They made the worst possible start as they fell behind in the sixth minute when the Blues defence reacted poorly to a cross and Bruno Petkovic was able to head in from close range.

Chelsea initially struggled to create much in response but a well-worked move brought them their equaliser as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang backheeled the ball to Raheem Sterling inside the box and he kept his cool to slot in.

On-loan Juventus midfielder Zakaria then marked a dream debut as he drove in a low shot midway through the first half that squeezed over the line despite a defender’s attempt to clear.

Dinamo needed to win to finish third and go into the Europa League and Edouard Mendy made a good save to deny Bosko Sutalo’s point-blank header early in the second half.

Aubameyang came close to adding a third for Chelsea when he powered a shot against the crossbar and Conor Gallagher was denied late on, but ultimately Zakaria’s goal was enough to seal the win for the Blues.

Seventeen-year-old Rico Lewis scored on his full Manchester City debut as the Blues came from behind to beat Sevilla in their final Champions League group game.

Man City were trailing to a first-half header from former Wolves and Nottingham Forest striker Rafa Mir when Lewis strode on to Julian Alvarez’s pass seven minutes after the break and drove a powerful shot past Yassine Bounou.

It was a moment Lewis will remember for the rest of his life and the joy on his face as he celebrated was something to behold.

But if the young full-back needed a reminder of the sustained quality required to make it at City,

he got it through a superb curling pass from substitute Kevin de Bruyne for the Blues’ second, which went around the back of the Sevilla defence and sent Alvarez running clear.

Riyad Mahrez wrapped up the scoring seven minutes from time.

City are now unbeaten in 23 Champions League games at the Etihad Stadium and, with prolific front-man Erling Haaland watching from the

stands and Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips to return from injury, no-one will relish facing them when the competition resumes in February.

Paris Saint-Germain rounded off their group stage campaign in the Champions League with a 2-1 win over Juventus – but it was only enough for them to qualify second in the group.

Before the match, Les Parisiens knew they had to match or better Benfica’s result against Maccabi Haifa to go to the top of Group H despite already securing qualification for the round of 16, but the Portuguese side routed Haifa to steal the group at the death. As for the Old Lady, who had already bowed out of the Champions League, they knew a place in the Europa League knockout round play-off would be secured if they matched or bettered the Israeli side.

  Juventus started off with intent, but it was PSG who took an early lead in the 12th minute. Kylian Mbappe rode out a couple of challenges to hit a low, powerful strike from outside the area past Wojciech Szczesny and into the net, with the help of the woodwork. The Bianconeri had their equaliser shortly before half-time, as Leonardo Bonucci turned in Juan Cuadrado’s diving header across the six-yard box to score his first Champions League goal in six years. However, PSG found their winner with 20 minutes of time remaining. Nuno Mendes, who had been on the pitch for a matter of seconds, latched onto Mbappe’s through-ball, before finishing low into the far corner. Juventus thought they had equalised nine minutes later, but Manuel Locatelli’s tap-in on the rebound was ruled out for offside. With news filtering through of the need to score again, PSG boss Christophe Galtier urged his men forward, but the goal they needed didn’t arrive.

Celtic ended a frustrating Champions League campaign in grim fashion as Real Madrid handed out a rough lesson to claim victory and top Group F.

The Scottish champions were 2-0 down after 21 minutes as Luka Modric and Rodrygo converted penalties awarded for handball in a brutal opening.

Josip Juranovic then missed a spot-kick for Celtic, and that seemed a distant memory when Marco Asensio, Vinicius Junior, and Federico Valverde made it a rout for the defending champions, even though Jota netted a late free-kick.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side turned on the style in the second half against an increasingly tired and open Celtic, who finish bottom of the section with two points and no wins in their six matches.

Real, though, march on in their quest for a 15th European title having earned the win that guarantees top spot in the group.

"I'm Very Well, I Feel Good Physically"_ Toni Kroos Discuss Madrid Future

Former Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos was sent off for the first time in his career at the weekend after being booked twice against Girona.

The Real Madrid midfielder will hope it doesn’t happen again before he retires, whenever that might be.

Kroos isn’t sure how much longer he will carry on playing, but he is convinced that he will end his career as a Real Madrid player.

At the press conference ahead of the Champions League game against Celtic, he was asked about his future.

Kroos:

“I’m very well, I feel good physically. I’m very relaxed about my [contract] renewal.”

“I don’t even know myself what will happen. We’ll decide before March, so that you don’t all get too nervous.

“I’m going to retire here, what I don’t know is when. There’s nothing new to tell.”

Real Madrid must beat Celtic on Wednesday to keep matters in their own hands and guarantee first place in the group.

After two games without a win, the whole squad will be itching to bounce back, even if some have suggested certain players need a break.

“I can only speak for myself.”

“I’ve got a rest coming up [because of the suspension] so that helps me not to worry about tiredness, but I’m feeling good physically.

“People are only talking about [the calendar and tiredness] because we have gone two games without winning.

Before, no one was talking about it.”

Champions League or World Cup

The packed schedule affecting most clubs right now is largely thanks to the Qatar World Cup which is just a few weeks away.

Kroos will not be there with Germany given he has retired from international football, but he cannot choose between club success and international glory for his country.

“That’s very tough. The World Cup is played every four years and you can only play in two or three, but I’m not going to choose.”

“They are very special moments.”

Real Madrid are hosting scottish champion Celtic this evening.

Liverpool put their domestic woes behind them by reaching the Champions League knockout stage with a clinical second-half display against Ajax in Amsterdam.

Needing a draw to reach the last 16, the Reds were fortunate not to be behind before Mohamed Salah clipped in with their only shot on target of the first half.

Darwin Nunez, back in the starting line-up after injury, should have doubled the lead before half-time but the £64m summer signing struck a post with an open goal in front of him.

However, the Uruguay forward quickly made amends by powering in a precise header from Andy Robertson’s corner shortly after the restart.

Moments later, England Under-21s midfielder Harvey Elliott added the third by latching on to Salah’s reverse pass and lashing into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

Liverpool knew a draw would be enough to clinch their spot in the last 16 for the sixth successive season.

But the comfortable victory means the Reds host Napoli in next week’s final round of group-stage fixtures safe in the knowledge their place is assured.

Barcelona endured a truly wretched night as confirmation of another Champions League group-stage exit was followed by their latest defeat to Bayern Munich.

Sadio Mane, restored to the starting XI after being left on the bench for Saturday’s Bundesliga win over Hoffenheim,

further worsened the mood in Catalonia after only 10 minutes when he collected a superb Serge Gnabry pass and beat Hector Bellerin

starting after Sergi Roberto’s shoulder injury suffered against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday – all too easily before lifting the ball over Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

It was far from vintage Bayern in a first half broken up by plenty of niggly fouls,

with Barca posing a threat through the pace and trickery of Ousmane Dembele but unable to find any sort of final ball.

They fell 2-0 behind when another perfect Gnabry pass was matched up with a second well-timed run,

this time from Eric Maxim Chopou-Moting, who coolly slotted his fourth goal in five games between the legs of Ter Stegen.

An important Bellerin intervention and Ter Stegen save from Jamal Musiala denied Bayern a third before the break,

while Robert Lewandowski was awarded a penalty against his former club after a challenge by Matthijs de Ligt,

only for English referee Anthony Taylor to change his decision after being advised by VAR Stuart Attwell to consult the pitchside monitor.

Bayern did initially celebrate a stylish third goal after half-time, but Gnabry had just strayed offside as he collected Joshua Kimmich’s pass before curling an excellent effort into the far corner.

They did eventually make it 3-0 with the last kick of the game, unmarked substitute

Benjamin Pavard stroking home a half-volley at the back post to complete a desperately dismal night in Barcelona’s recent history.

Barcelona XI Vs Bayern Munich: Team News, Injury Latest & Possible Line Up

Barcelona are without full-back Sergi Roberto in the hope to progress in Champions League tonight against German giant club Bayern Munich.

The 30-year-old has been a regular at right-back in recent weeks but he was stretchered off with a shoulder injury in the win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday and will not be available against the Bundesliga giants.

In his absence Hector Bellerin is in line for his first European start since his summer arrival,

though Xavi could also opt to shift Jules Kounde over to full-back and partner Eric Garcia with Gerard Pique in the centre of defence.

Gavi limped off over the weekend but the Barcelona boss has insisted that “seems to be nothing” and expects the midfielder, who picked up the Golden Boy award last week, to be fully fit for Bayern’s visit.

Pedri looks certain to start in midfield, with two of Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi partnering him, while Robert Lewandowski will lead the line against his former club.

The Polish had seven shots in Barcelona’s defeat in Munich earlier this season but could not find a way past Manuel Neuer – he’ll be desperate to get on the scoresheet at the Nou Camp.

Ousmane Dembele scored and assisted another three goals last time out so can expect to start, with Raphinha the preferred option on the other flank, meaning Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati may have to settle for places on the bench.

Predicted Barcelona XI (4-3-3):

Ter Stegen;

Bellerin, Garcia, Kounde, Balde;

Busquets, Pedri, De Jong;

Raphinha, Lewandowski, Dembele

Liverpool XI Vs Ajax: Team News, Injury Latest & Possible Line Up

Darwin Nunez is expected to back from injury as Liverpool ready to face Ajax in the Champions League tonight.

Nunez missed the weekend defeat to Nottingham Forest with a tight hamstring but, having trained on Monday and Tuesday, will be available for selection in Amsterdam.

Klopp:

“He trained normal yesterday and today. So yes, in this moment, he is available”

Thiago Alcantara suffered an ear infection on the morning of the Forest match and will miss out again, meaning Jordan Henderson is likely to start in midfield alongside Fabinho.

Trent Alexander-Arnold should return to the side after being benched at the weekend,

while Joe Gomez is expected to keep his place with Joel Matip still out with a calf injury and Ibrahima Konate only just returning to first-team training, though the latter will be in the squad.

Naby Keita is also back in training but this match will come too soon,

though Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is available again after making his first appearance of the season against Forest.

One of those to come out of the defeat at the City Ground with any credit was Harvey Elliott

and he is line to start again, particulary if Klopp continues to opt for Mohamed Salah in a central position,

while Fabio Carvalho could benefit once more from the long-term injuries to Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.

Predicted Liverpool XI:

Alisson;

Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson;

Fabinho, Henderson;

Elliott, Carvalho;

Salah, Nunez
