Everton have failed to win any of their last 10 games in all competitions, slipping to 19th place in the Premier League table and being eliminated from both domestic cup competitions.
The Tofee have confirmed the sacking of manager Frank Lampard, less than a year since his appointment.
Home defeats to both Wolves and Southampton meant the trip to the London Stadium was a “must not lose”, and the
Everton board and owner Farhad Moshiri made the trip to London to attend in person.
Jarrod Bowen scored twice to a 2-0 defeat and now Lampard has paid with his job.
Everton have two weeks until their next game to appoint Lampard’s successor.

Manchester United defeat Everton by 3-1 to make it seven wins from seven for Erik ten Hag’s side.
Antony got United off to a flier after latching onto the end of Marcus Rashford’s cross
towards the back post, sliding in to convert after just over three minutes of action with the hosts threatening to run away with things at Old Trafford.
But the Toffees got themselves straight back into the tie after a David de Gea blunder at the near post gifted Conor Coady his equaliser,
much to his disbelief, and the visitors opened up and finished the half strong.
Coady then turned from hero to villain after scoring an own goal shortly after Alex Iwobi
was stretchered off at the start of the second half, with Rashford again creating the goal with some great work in the box.
Rashford then capped the win with a penalty in added time to make it 3-1 as United cast the challenge of Everton aside and put their names into the hat for the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Demarai Gray’s scored an equaliser to earned Everton a valuable point in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Everton set out to frustrate City and that is what they did in the opening exchanges.
Manchester City moved further up the pitch and had Everton penned in as they looked to create goal scoring opportunities.
Pep Guardiola‘s side found the breakthrough after 24 minutes, Riyad Mahrez did brilliantly to go past Vitaliy Mykolenko before pulling it back for Erling Haaland to score his 21st Prmeier League goal of the season.
The game had a bit of an edge to it, with Man City picking up three bookings and Everton two in the first half.
Manchester City had a chance to go 2-0 up before half time, John Stones got on the end of a cross but could only divert his effort onto the post.
The second half continued in the same way with not much quality and lots of stoppages.
On the 64th minute Everton equalised in stunning fashion.
Demarai Gray cut in from the left hand side before bending an effort perfectly into the top corner with Everton’s first shot on target of the match.

Manchester City will host Everton at Etihad Stadium on New Year’s Eve in a game with very differing implications for both.
Julian Alvarez is unlikely to be thrown into the Manchester City squad as he gradually returns to club action following World Cup success with Argentina.
Ruben Dias will miss out with a thigh injury, but City still have plenty of options available at centre-back, with Manuel Akanji and John Stones the preferred duo on Wednesday.
Kalvin Phillips could make his first start for having only played one minute of Premier League action for the club he joined in the summer.
Phillips is in contention to start on New Year’s Eve despite being called “overweight” by Pep Guardiola earlier in the week.
Guardiola brought Phillips back to the squad to be on the bench against Leeds as he improved his evaluation of the England midfielder to having a “perfect, sexy body”.
With the busy festive period putting Guardiola’s men through nine games in five-and-a-half weeks, some rotation will be inevitable.
Kyle Walker, Joao Cancelo, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva could all return to the XI having been benched for the win at Leeds.
Predicted Manchester City XI:
Walker, Stones, Laporte, Cancelo;
Silva, Phillips, De Bruyne;
Foden, Haaland, Grealish.
Richarlison was in tears as he reveals his fearfulness of missing world cup due to his recent injury picked up in yesterday Tottenham match against Everton
The former Everton man was forced off with the injury in the second half of Tottenham’s 2-0 victory .
Richarlison is hoping the scans will show only minor damage but he remains in a race to be fit to make Brazil’s final 26-man squad, which will be announced on November 7.
An initial 55-man shortlist will be named by Brazil’s head coach Tite on October 21.
The five-time world champions are in Group G alongside Cameroon, Serbia and Switzerland.
When asked about his injury after Tottenham’s win, a tearful Richarlison told ESPN Brasil:
‘It’s kind of hard to speak because it’s close to a realisation, to my dream.
‘I’ve already suffered an injury like this, it’s similar, but I hope it can heal as soon as possible.
At Everton I was out for around two months.
‘I know it’s hard to talk at this moment but let’s see, I’ll recover.
On Monday I will have more tests but even walking hurts. Let’s wait, I may be in Qatar.
‘It’s all so close, it’s about a month to go, and we’ve been getting ready, working every day so that nothing serious can happen.
‘Unfortunately, today I had this calf injury but now it’s just a matter of waiting, doing the treatment every day so that I can recover as soon as possible.’

Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench to score his 700th club career goal as Manchester United came from behind to beat Everton 2-1.
Erik ten Hag, who handed a first Premier League start to Casemiro, saw his side start sloppily and they fell behind after the Brazilian gave the ball away and Alex Iwobi fired in a fine strike from distance.
But Frank Lampard’s men were sloppy for the rest of the half and the visitors punished a mistake from Idrissa Gueye with Anthony Martial finding Antony to equalise.
Martial, who picked up a hip injury in the warmup, was substituted around the half hour mark for Cristiano Ronaldo.
And the Portuguese forward gave the visitors the lead with a low drilled finish from Casemiro’s through-ball on the stroke of half-time for a milestone goal.
The second half was a largely scrappy affair with neither side finding their rhythm.
Lampard brought on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, for his first appearance of the season, along with Dwight McNeil and debutant James Garner in the closing stages but his side were unable to find an equaliser.
Marcus Rashford thought he had scored when he took advantage of a mistake from James Tarkowski but it was controversially ruled out by VAR for a handball in the build-up.
But United held on for the win which seems them climb to fifth in the table while the Toffees are 12th.

Manchester United are hoping Raphael Varane will be available to face Everton in the Premier League today.
The Frenchman missed the Europa League win over Omonia Nicosia on Thursday after coming off during United’s loss to Manchester City but there is a hope his ankle problem is not a serious one.
The situation is made more pressing given Harry Maguire’s injury and the England international continues to miss out.
Elsewhere, Anthony Martial is pushing for a start after scoring three goals in his last two games and could partner Marcus Rashford alongside summer signing Antony.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro do not appear to feature in ten Hag’s first-choice XI and look likely to drop to the bench as United make the short trip across to Goodison Park.
“Raphael Varane makes progress, and I hope he’s available, but I think it will be close.”
“From the other players, Harry Maguire [is] not [available] and then it’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek, both not [fit].”
Predicted Manchester United XI:
Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia;
Antony, Fernandes, Rashford;
The FA have announced Manchester United Cristiano Ronaldo has been charged with “improper and/or violent” conducted following an incident against Everton last season.
Video footage showed Ronaldo appearing to knock a fan’s mobile phone to the ground after United’s 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park on April 9, for which the Portuguese was cautioned by Merseyside Police.
FA has decided to probe the incident and a spokesperson said on Twitter:
“Cristiano Ronaldo has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 for an incident that took place after Manchester United FC’s Premier League match against Everton on Saturday 9 April 2022.
“It is alleged that the forward’s conduct after the final whistle was improper and/or violent.”
After the incident, which occurred when Ronaldo was making his way towards the tunnel, the 37-year-old issued a social-media apology for his “outburst” and invited the supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford “as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship”.
Taking to his Instagram account after the match, the Portuguese forward said: “It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing.
“Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.
“I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship.”
In response to the charge against Ronaldo, who has started just once under Erik Ten Hag in the Premier League this season, United said in a statement:
“We will be supporting the player.”
Everton have rejected Chelsea’s latest bid for midfielder Anthony Gordon which sources can confirm was worth £45m.
Thomas Tuchel is keen on bringing in 21-year-old Gordon, who was a shining light in an otherwise frustrating campaign for Everton last season, but saw an opening bid worth around £40m knocked back on Monday.
Sources have confirmed that Chelsea have returned with a second bid worth £45m, but Everton have again snubbed the Blues’ advances.
Everton have previously warned suitors like Tottenham and Newcastle that it would take a bid worth over £50m to convince them to part ways with Gordon and club officials are understood to be sticking to that asking price.
Personal terms would not be an issue for Chelsea but the Blues are now considering their options ahead of a decision over a possible third bid.
Everton have previously registered an interest in a number of Chelsea players, aided by the presence of former Blues boss Frank Lampard in the Goodison Park dugout.
Among those to have piqued Lampard’s interest are Billy Gilmour, Conor Gallagher, Armando Broja Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi.
