Brentford manager Thomas Frank has revealed that Fabio Carvalho faces a daunting challenge to return to action this season.
The 22-year-old midfielder has struggled to make an impact since joining the Bees from Liverpool last summer, with injuries limiting him to just three starts in 24 competitive appearances.
Carvalho’s Road to Recovery
Carvalho underwent surgery on a dislocated shoulder, which has ruled him out of action for an extended period.
Frank has confirmed that the midfielder’s recovery will need to be “perfect” if he is to have any chance of playing again this season.

A swift and successful rehabilitation could see Carvalho return to the pitch just before the season’s end, but this remains a long shot.
Injury Update: Sepp van den Berg and Michael Kayode
Centre-back Sepp van den Berg has missed the last three matches with a knee injury but could return to the squad for Saturday’s clash with Bournemouth.
Full-back Michael Kayode is also nursing a knee injury and is unlikely to feature against the Cherries.
However, Frank expects Kayode to be available for the Newcastle United match on April 2.
Brentford’s Injury List
The Bees are still without the services of Josh Dasilva, Gustavo Nunes, Igor Thiago, and Rico Henry, although the latter has returned to full training.
Frank will be hoping to have a stronger squad at his disposal as Brentford seeks to return to winning ways against Bournemouth.
Premier League Preview: Brentford vs. Bournemouth
Brentford currently sits in 12th place in the Premier League table, having collected 38 points from 28 matches.
With just one point from their last two outings, the Bees will be eager to get back on track against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
