Liverpool Receives Double Fitness Boost Ahead of FA Cup Clash

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has confirmed that Jarell Quansah and Dominik Szoboszlai are expected to be available for Saturday’s FA Cup third-round match against Accrington Stanley.

The duo’s return to fitness is a welcome boost for the Reds, who have been dealing with a number of injuries in recent weeks.

Quansah and Szoboszlai’s Road to Recovery

Quansah was forced off with illness during Wednesday’s 1-0 EFL Cup semi-final first-leg defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, but Slot has confirmed that the 21-year-old’s problem was not injury-related.

Szoboszlai, meanwhile, has been out of action since the 3-1 Boxing Day win over Leicester City due to a combination of suspension and illness.

However, the Hungarian international has taken part in practice with the youth team and is expected to be available for selection on Saturday.

Slot Provides Update on Transfer Rumors

Slot was tight-lipped on Liverpool’s transfer plans during his pre-game press conference, refusing to comment on rumors surrounding the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah.

The Reds have been linked with a number of players, including Napoli attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but Slot was keen to focus on the upcoming game against Accrington Stanley rather than speculation about potential incomings and outgoings.

Liverpool’s January Transfer Business So Far

Liverpool’s January transfer business has been limited to a pair of outgoings, with Rhys Williams’s loan at Morecambe extended until the end of the season and Brazilian goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga joining Fluminense on a free transfer.

The Reds did not make a single signing during the winter 2024 window, but they have a history of making big-money deals in January, having signed Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 and Luis Diaz from Porto in January 2022.
