Manchester City’s young midfielder Jacob Wright has expressed his desire to leave the club permanently this summer, with Norwich City emerging as a potential destination.
The 19-year-old has been on loan at the Championship side since January and has started four of his nine appearances for the Canaries.
Wright’s Frustration at Man City
Wright, who joined Manchester City’s academy at the age of eight, had hoped to break into the first team under Pep Guardiola.
However, senior opportunities have been scarce, and the midfielder revealed that Guardiola blocked his departure last summer.
Wright told the Manchester Evening News, “There was obviously temptation… but when the manager and staff around him want you to stay and be around that first team, there’s not much of a choice.”
A Successful Loan Spell at Norwich
Wright’s loan spell at Norwich City has been a success, and he has expressed his desire to make the move permanent.
He told the Pink Un, “Yes, 100%. I’m really starting to build something nice at the club. I’m enjoying it.
It’s a good family club.” Wright has been working hard to establish himself in the starting lineup and is keen to continue his development at Norwich.
Norwich City’s Interest
Norwich City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup has revealed that the club are in a “strong position” to sign Wright permanently.
The loan agreement between Norwich and Manchester City includes an option to buy the midfielder at the end of the season.
With Wright’s desire to stay at Norwich and the club’s interest in signing him, a permanent transfer could be on the cards.
