Manchester United Suffers Double Injury Blow Ahead of Fulham Clash

Manchester United’s 2-1 Europa League win over Rangers at Old Trafford has come at a significant cost, with key duo Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro suffering injuries that make them major doubts for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Fulham.

De Ligt and Yoro Injured Against Rangers

De Ligt was replaced at halftime by Harry Maguire, while Yoro was substituted early in the second half, prompting Diogo Dalot to drop into the back three and Tyrell Malacia to enter the fray.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim revealed that both players felt discomfort in their legs and will require assessment before determining their availability for the Fulham match.

“We can’t risk anything,” Amorim told TNT Sports. “I know we have to win, but we have to show the players that everybody matters.

Implications for Manchester United’s Defensive Lineup

Should De Ligt and Yoro be ruled out, Manchester United’s defensive options will be severely depleted.

Maguire and Lisandro Martinez could be joined in the back three by Dalot, with Jonny Evans currently sidelined.

Amorim’s Post-Match Assessment

Despite the injuries, Amorim took positives from the match, praising his team’s performance with the ball.

“We did well. We played better with the ball,” he said. “We started well and then we lost control of the game because of some bad decisions, but the lads did well.”

Manchester United’s Europa League Prospects

The win over Rangers has boosted Manchester United’s Europa League prospects, with the Red Devils now fourth in the table with 15 points from seven matches.
