Manchester United to Make New Offer for Lecce Left-Back Patrick Dorgu

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to make a fresh approach for Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu after their initial €27m (£22.8m) offer was rejected.

The Red Devils are undeterred by Lecce’s rebuttal and are set to submit an improved offer, albeit one that may still fall short of the Italian club’s valuation.

Dorgu’s Impressive Rise

The 20-year-old Danish defender has been in impressive form for Lecce, contributing five goals and two assists from 56 games in all tournaments.

His performances have caught the attention of top European clubs, with Manchester United and Napoli reportedly leading the chase.

The signing of Dorgu would address Manchester United’s need for reinforcements on the left-hand side.

With Luke Shaw’s injury woes and Tyrell Malacia’s ongoing rehabilitation, Dorgu’s arrival would provide a much-needed boost to the Red Devils’ defense.

The Danish defender’s versatility, having played as a left-back, left wing-back, and right-winger, would also offer Manchester United’s manager Ruben Amorim more tactical options.

Transfer Battle with Napoli

Manchester United face competition from Napoli, who are reportedly working to sign Dorgu’s services.

The Serie A giants are also attempting to prise Alejandro Garnacho away from Old Trafford, but Manchester United are taking steps to prevent a transfer blow.

What’s Next?

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester United’s new offer is expected to be submitted soon, although it may not meet Lecce’s €40m (£33.8m) valuation.

With Dorgu excited about the prospect of joining Manchester United, a deal could be struck if the two clubs can agree on a fee.
