Gareth Southgate warned Jude Bellingham, saying, he has to prioritize the most important thing, and as well as the team.

Bellingham played a crucial role in Real Madrid‘s Champions League victory this season, which ended with a 2-0 win over his former team, Borussia Dortmund, at Wembley Stadium.

The 20-year-old faces a quick turnaround as he prepares to represent England in this summer’s European Championships.

While his teammates have already reconvened at the St George’s Park training base, head coach Gareth Southgate has emphasized that Bellingham should prioritize physical and mental rejuvenation before joining the squad.

Southgate said:

“It’s not the most important thing [to be with the group].”

“The most important thing is rest and recovery and we will benefit from that.

“That is the constraint of international football. You have to work out the most important thing and for Jude, and therefore the team, it is psychologically switching off and recovering.”

Bellingham played 42 games for Madrid during his debut season in the Spanish capital, scoring 23 goals and adding 13 assists over the course of a remarkable campaign.

England take on Bosnia and Herzegovina in their first of two pre-tournament friendlies on Monday night at St James’ Park.

They will then head down to Wembley to take on Iceland on Friday evening before Southgate trims his provisional squad of 33 players down to 26.

Bellingham may not feature in either friendly but is a shoo-in to make the final cut regardless.
