Terzić Departs Borussia Dortmund After Impressive Champions League Campaign

Terzic left Borussia Dortmund

Edin Terzić has bid farewell to Borussia Dortmund, leaving his role as head coach after a remarkable tenure that saw the team reach the Champions League final and come agonizingly close to winning the Bundesliga title.

Terzić’s journey at Dortmund began in 2018, working in various positions before taking the reins as permanent head coach before the 2022-23 season.

During his time at the helm, he led the team to a fifth-placed finish in the Bundesliga in 2023-24, securing qualification for next year’s top tier of continental competition.

The 2022-23 season will be remembered as a near-miss for Dortmund, as they led the Bundesliga going into the final day of the season,

only to surrender the title to perennial rivals Bayern Munich following an unexpected draw with Mainz.

Despite this heartbreak, Terzić’s leadership and tactical acumen inspired the team to an improbable run to the Champions League final earlier this month.

Terzic reveals:

“Dear Borussians, even though it hurts me brutally right now, I would like to let you know that I will be leaving BVB as of today.”

“It was a huge honour to lead this great club to a German Cup victory and, most recently, to a Champions League final.

“After our final at Wembley, I asked those in charge for a chat because after ten years at BVB, five of them as part of the coaching team and two and a half as head coach,

I feel that the upcoming new start should be accompanied by a new man on the touchline.”

Terzić’s departure marks the end of an era at Dortmund, where he has been an integral part of the club’s success in various capacities.

His dedication, passion, and ability to connect with players and fans alike will be deeply missed.
