Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of Austrian defender Kevin Danso on loan from Lens, with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old becomes Ange Postecoglou’s first outfield signing of the January transfer window.
Transfer Details Confirmed
Danso’s transfer to Tottenham is reportedly worth €25m (£20.9m), which will be triggered when his permanent obligation is activated at the end of the season.

The Austrian international will wear the number four shirt at Tottenham, a number previously worn by Oliver Skipp, Glenn Hoddle, Toby Alderweireld, and Cristian Romero.
A Dramatic Transfer Hijack
Tottenham’s signing of Danso comes after a dramatic transfer hijack, with the defender initially set to join Wolverhampton Wanderers.
However, once Danso learned of Spurs’ interest, he cancelled his medical with Wolves, and Tottenham quickly struck a deal with Lens.
Debut Anticipation
Danso is unlikely to make his Tottenham debut against Brentford on Sunday, but he may be available for the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final against Liverpool on Thursday, pending the receipt of his work permit.
Strengthening Tottenham’s Defense
Danso’s arrival at Tottenham strengthens the club’s defensive options, and Postecoglou will be hoping the Austrian international can make a significant impact in the second half of the season.
