Tottenham Hotspur’s chastening 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg has been compounded by an injury to Brazilian striker Richarlison.
The 27-year-old was forced off with a calf issue just before half-time, replaced by new signing Mathys Tel.
Postecoglou Confirms Concerns Over Richarlison’s Injury
Speaking after the defeat, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou expressed concerns over the severity of Richarlison’s injury, which could see him miss a significant chunk of the season.

“It looks like his calf. It didn’t look too good after the game, so probably one to add to the list,” Postecoglou said.
Injury Crisis Deepens for Tottenham Hotspur
Richarlison’s injury is the latest blow to Tottenham’s attacking options, with Dominic Solanke already sidelined with a knee injury.
The Brazilian’s absence could see Mathys Tel thrust into action sooner than expected.
Postecoglou Sets Unwanted Record in Defeat
The defeat to Liverpool also saw Postecoglou set an unwanted record as Tottenham manager.
In his 79th game in charge, Spurs failed to register a single shot on target for the first time under the Australian’s tenure.
Tottenham Hotspur’s No-Show Against Liverpool
The Lilywhites’ performance against Liverpool was a major disappointment, with the team managing just five attempts throughout the 90 minutes.
Son Heung-min came closest to scoring, striking the crossbar from an acute angle at 3-0 down.
