Ange Postecoglou Confirms New Tottenham Injury Setback as Radu Dragusin's Status Remains Uncertain

Towttenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed another injury blow ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Ben Davies is confirmed unavailable, while doubts remain over Radu Dragusin’s fitness.

Ben Davies Injury Update

Davies, sidelined for Tottenham’s last six matches due to a hamstring injury sustained in the 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on December 5, was initially expected to return sooner. Postecoglou had offered a glimmer

of hope earlier this month, suggesting the injury was less severe than initially feared, with a slim chance of a comeback against Wolves.

However, speaking at Friday’s pre-match press conference, Postecoglou confirmed that the 31-year-old had suffered a setback during training. This new complication rules Davies out until mid-January.

“No, he’s ruled out,” Postecoglou stated. “Unfortunately, he had a setback in training, so he’s probably out for another couple of weeks.”

Radu Dragusin Fitness Remains Uncertain

Tottenham’s defensive woes were further compounded during their Boxing Day loss to Nottingham Forest. Radu Dragusin was forced off late in the match with an ankle issue, and Postecoglou remains uncertain about his availability.

“It’s a bit early to tell,” he admitted. “He tweaked his ankle and felt he couldn’t continue. We’ll assess it today and see how it looks. Other than tired bodies, there are no additional concerns.”

Adding to the defensive crisis, Djed Spence will miss the Wolves game due to suspension following his red card against Forest.

Defensive Options for the Wolves Clash

Dragusin’s potential absence leaves Postecoglou without any senior centre-back options. With Davies, Cristian Romero, and Micky van de Ven also unavailable, the manager may need to rely on youth.

Nineteen-year-old Alfie Dorrington, who made his senior debut during Tottenham’s 5-0 win over Southampton, could be called upon to partner Archie Gray in central defense. The pair would form a youthful backline with a combined age of just 37.

If Dorrington remains unavailable, makeshift solutions could see Yves Bissouma or Rodrigo Bentancur step into a defensive role.

Tottenham’s Form and Squad Challenges

Tottenham’s recent struggles have seen them slip to 11th in the Premier League table, with four losses in their last five matches. In addition to their defensive woes, the squad will be without Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario for Sunday’s game.

Postecoglou faces a challenging task to stabilize his squad as they prepare to face Vitor Pereira’s Wolverhampton Wanderers. Spurs fans will hope for a resilient performance despite the mounting setbacks.
