Arsenal vs Everton the outcome was in favor of home sides.

Arsenal started aggressively, with the Emirates Stadium buzzing.

Havertz made an early optimistic effort that went wide.

Arsenal camped in Everton’s half, with Martinelli playing down the sides and cutting back to Tomiyasu, whose shot from 12 yards out was blocked. Arsenal flew out of the blocks.

Partey’s shanked clearance gifted Everton a cheap corner.

Tarkowski’s header looped up, and while Raya fumbled at first, he eventually claimed it, though the whistle had already gone.

Gueye lost the ball, allowing Arsenal to counter with Everton slightly exposed.

Rice drove into the area, but Onana slid in and poked the ball away. Branthwaite then played an awful pass to Havertz, which fell to Rice in the box, but his tame effort was saved.

Another Arsenal corner saw Rice at the near post, but Calvert-Lewin cleared it.

A foul was given anyway, as Gabriel was too eager and got involved in some shoving.

Arsenal had a better spell, building pressure on the Everton defense.

Havertz moved into the box, patiently working the space for a shot on his left foot, but it was blocked.

Everton broke well, with Gueye playing the ball inside to Calvert-Lewin. He swept an effort onto the post and then couldn’t hit the target with the rebound.

Martinelli looked to be clean through, but Tarkowski flew in with a brilliant challenge, knocking the ball away.

Martinelli kicked Tarkowski’s boot and was in a lot of pain. The physios came on after Odegaard almost tripped over the Brazilian while play continued.

Martinelli decided to carry on but was unimpressed by how long it took for Michael Oliver to signal him back on.

Everton countered, and Partey could only bring McNeil down, earning a yellow card and giving Everton a free-kick 25 yards out. Gueye’s deflected shot went in, giving Everton a shock lead at a stunned Emirates.

Odegaard’s cut-back picked out Tomiyasu, whose first-time finish was fired past Pickford. Brilliant strike.
