Bayern Munich owner Herbert Hainer has vowed to do everything to sign Jamal Musyala to a new contract.
Musyala, who is entering the final two years of his contract, has been heavily linked with Manchester City and fans have recently teased him about his future in Munich by insisting that he cannot predict where they will play for the next five years.
Asked if he saw Musiala’s comments as disloyal to the club, Heiner told the media: “No, I don’t interpret it that way, because what Jamal said was correct and consistent. Who would have thought five years ago that Saudi suddenly emerged as a player and spent a lot of money and brought in players?
“For me, what he says about FC Bayern is much more important. That he values the club enormously and is focused on the next goals and wants to win titles.”
Hainer proceeded: “I have a lot of respect for Jamal. When you see how he has developed, it’s incredible. Many people say that he will one day be the best player in the world. We want to do everything we can to keep him at FC Bayern for the long term.
“In my opinion, he could easily become the next Thomas Muller and play here for the next 20 years. I am very optimistic that we will see him at Bayern for a long time to come.”
Player manager Max Eberle reiterated his confidence, revealing that he plans to stay with Musiala’s team in the future.
“We are always in contact, further discussions will follow,” Eberl said. “He should become a face of FC Bayern in the future. His journey at FC Bayern is far from over. He wants to win titles, and that is exactly what we want too.”
