Ruben Reyes Getafe sporting director has said it’s like a dreamed fulfilled as the club sealed the transfer of Mason Greenwood from Man United this summer.
The 21-year-old has been left out United squad since he was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault following accusations from a woman, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

Getafe boss Jose Bordalas has recently addressed the club’s controversial signing,
while Greenwood said that he was “very happy” to join the capital side.

He said:
“I am very happy to be here. I have been training for four or five months.
I am getting up to speed and have been training with my teammates and feel quite good.”
“We take it one game at a time and the next home game is coming in a few weeks and we will try to win and do our best.”
Man United have decided against bringing the forward back into their side,
but he has another two years left to run on his contract at Old Trafford and is only on loan at Getafe, fuelling suggestions that there could yet be a Red Devils return in the future.
Getafe sporting director Reyes has insisted that Greenwood is “just the same” as the other players that the club signed on September 1.
Reyes:
“There is no need for us to handle anything [off the pitch].
We have signed a footballer who is just the same as Diego Rico and Oscar Rodriguez, and that’s it. We have to do our job, and that’s what we focus on.”
“We’re very excited with him. He was a player that we knew was out there. We worked on it, gathered information and bit by bit we saw that there could be a possibility.
“We spoke to his family, to his dad, to his people for a long time. We were able to convince him to come here, to trust in us.
“We’re satisfied. He plays very free, as if he was on a school playground.
He has a very high level. We dreamed that we could bring him here, and sometimes that gets fulfilled.
“It is a year’s loan: it’s very difficult to get an option to buy on a player [like him].
He will be here all season. There are internal discussions [between the clubs] but those are small details that we try not to share.
They appreciated the effort, how convinced we were.”
At this stage, it is unclear when Greenwood will be available to make his debut for the Spanish club, as he has not played a competitive match since January 2022.
