Harry Kane Shares How Cristiano Ronaldo Inspires Him

Harry Kane has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent record of 900 goals ‘encourages him to play as long as possible’.

The Three Lions captain will celebrate his 100th cap on Tuesday during England’s friendly against Finland at Wembley. The former Tottenham Hotspur player made his debut in 2015 and played in the World Cup and two Euros.

Despite his great success in front of goal, becoming a footballer in his country, Kane still lifts a trophy for club or country.

But the Bayern Munich striker is keen to put his trophy doubts to rest, revealing his determination to succeed in England – taking inspiration from Ronaldo, who scored the 900th and 901st goals of his career as it was in the selection last week. “I feel very good, physically and mentally, at the peak of my career,” he told reporters before the Finland clash. “Watching other players, [Cristiano] Ronaldo scored his 901st goal, seeing him compete at 39 motivates me to play as long as possible.”

“I love this game, I love representing England – more than anything and I don’t want it to end any time soon. For me, personally, now it’s about continuing to improve and being consistent both in an England shirt and at club level.

“I’m hungry for more. I’m determined to keep pushing the boundaries.”

Kane also spoke about his feelings before receiving his 100th cap for England. “It is really special,” he continued. “I always say it is sometimes hard to sink in when you are playing. I spoke previously about that with the goalscoring record, but this one I am extremely proud of.
