Safety Meeting Scheduled to Determine Fixture’s Fate

A safety meeting was held on Sunday morning to assess the weather and travel conditions, with another meeting scheduled for 12 pm to make a final decision.

Liverpool City Council’s Safety Advisory Group, along with representatives from both clubs, Merseyside Police, and Liverpool City Council, will convene to determine whether the fixture can proceed as planned.

Travel Disruptions and Safety Concerns

 

The severe weather has already caused disruptions, with Liverpool Airport temporarily closing its runway and travel conditions expected to deteriorate further.

The Safety Advisory Group will consider the safety of supporters traveling to and from the stadium, with the fixture not due to finish until approximately 6:30 pm, when icy conditions are expected to cause further disruptions.

Liverpool’s Statement and Precautions

Liverpool has released a statement confirming that the game is currently planned to go ahead as scheduled, but with a further safety meeting scheduled for 12 pm.

The club has urged supporters to take extra safety measures when traveling to and from the stadium.
