Manchester City Agree Deal to Sign Palmeiras Defender Vitor Reis

Manchester City have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Palmeiras to sign 18-year-old defender Vitor Reis.

The Brazilian teenager has emerged as one of the Citizens’ top targets in the January transfer window, and a deal is now imminent.

Reis to Undergo Medical and Sign Contract

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have agreed a package under €40m to sign Reis and are determined to bring the youngster in “immediately”.

Reis is now set to undergo a medical and sign his contract as soon as both clubs complete the necessary documents for the transfer to go through.

Who is Vitor Reis?

Reis is a highly-rated Brazilian defender who has already made 22 first-team appearances for Palmeiras.

The Sao Paulo-born starlet began his career at the R10 Academy in Paraiba before moving to Palmeiras in 2016. Reis has been named one of the best players globally born in 2006 by The Guardian and has also represented Brazil at Under-17 level.

Brighton & Hove Albion Pull Out of Race for Reis

Brighton & Hove Albion had also been interested in signing Reis this month, but they have since pulled out of the race for his signature.

This has given Manchester City a clear path to secure the services of one of South America’s brightest prospects.

Manchester City’s Defensive Reinforcements

The signing of Reis will be Manchester City’s second defensive reinforcement in the January transfer window, following the imminent arrival of Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens.
