Manchester City are reportedly making significant progress in their pursuit of Palmeiras defender Vitor Reis.
The 18-year-old Brazilian has emerged as a key target for Pep Guardiola’s side, who are eager to bolster their defensive options in the January transfer window.
Reis’ Attractiveness to Manchester City
Reis has already agreed personal terms with Manchester City, and negotiations between the club and Palmeiras are advancing rapidly.
The Citizens are willing to pay around £34m to secure the services of the highly-rated defender, who has been identified as a key player to help reduce the age profile of Manchester City’s squad.

Manchester City’s Defensive Reinforcements
Manchester City’s defensive woes have been well-documented this season, with injuries to key players Ruben Dias, John Stones, Manuel Akanji, and Nathan Ake exacerbating the issue.
The signing of Reis would provide a much-needed boost to Guardiola’s defensive options, and the Brazilian’s potential for growth and development makes him an attractive prospect for the Citizens.
Competition for Reis’ Signature
While Manchester City appear to be in the driving seat to sign Reis, other top European clubs have also been linked with the Palmeiras defender.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal, and Manchester United have all been credited with an interest in Reis, but Brighton & Hove Albion are believed to have ended their pursuit of the youngster after seeing an offer rejected by Palmeiras.
Who is Vitor Reis?
Reis began his career at the R10 Academy in Paraiba before joining Palmeiras in 2016.
The 6ft 1in defender has established himself as a key player at academy level and has made 22 first-team appearances for Palmeiras, including 16 starts in the Brasileiro.
Reis has also been named as one of the best players born in 2006 by The Guardian, alongside Real Madrid star Endrick.
