Manchester City have initiated preliminary talks with the representatives of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush, as the club seeks to address its striker shortage.
With Erling Haaland shouldering the burden of leading the attack, City are eager to acquire a reliable backup option to alleviate the pressure on the Norwegian goal-scorer.
Marmoush’s Impressive Form
Marmoush, 25, has been in outstanding form for Frankfurt this season, contributing 30 direct goal involvements in 24 appearances across all competitions.
His tally of 13 Bundesliga goals places him just one behind top scorer Harry Kane, making him an attractive prospect for City.
Stumbling Blocks in the Pursuit of Marmoush
However, City’s pursuit of Marmoush is not without its challenges. Frankfurt are demanding a premium fee for the Egyptian striker, who still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract.
Additionally, the German club is determined to secure a replacement for Marmoush before sanctioning his exit.

City may also face competition from Arsenal, who are reportedly interested in signing the striker.
City’s Transfer Plans
As City navigate the complexities of signing Marmoush, they are also exploring other transfer targets.
The club is reportedly interested in Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov, as well as Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina as a potential successor to Kyle Walker.
In midfield, City have been linked with Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, Atalanta BC’s Ederson, and Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes, although moves for these players in January may prove challenging.
