Manchester United Suffer Double Injury Blow Ahead of Real Sociedad Clash

Manchester United’s preparations for their Europa League last-16 first leg contest against Real Sociedad have been dealt a significant blow, with Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte set to miss the match due to minor injuries.

Maguire and Ugarte Sidelined

The pair, who picked up knocks during Sunday’s FA Cup defeat to Fulham, were absent from the team’s open training session on Wednesday morning.

According to journalist Simon Stone, Maguire and Ugarte are unlikely to be involved in the match against Real Sociedad, leaving manager Ruben Amorim with a selection headache.

Injury Crisis Deepens

Manchester United are already without a number of key players, including Lisandro Martinez, Amad Diallo, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, and Jonny Evans.

The absence of Maguire and Ugarte adds to the club’s injury woes, with 11 players now set to miss the Europa League clash.

Boost for Toby Collyer

There was some positive news for Manchester United, however, as Toby Collyer returned to training following a recent absence.

The Englishman is now in line to play a part against Real Sociedad, and could potentially start in central midfield alongside Bruno Fernandes.

Team Selection Conundrum

Maguire’s absence is likely to lead to Noussair Mazraoui being moved into the back three, while Collyer’s return adds to Amorim’s options in central midfield.

Rasmus Hojlund, who has impressed in the Europa League this season, is expected to lead the line against Real Sociedad.
