Noussair Mazraoui has revealed he had a “good feeling” once he learned of interest from Manchester United this summer, which coincided with his desire to leave Bayern Munich.
Mazraoui completed his £17million move to United on the same day as long-term team-mate Matthijs de Ligt and started each of the first two Premier League games this season.
“I wanted to make a move to another club this summer. When I heard the Manchester United option, I knew I wanted it. That felt good right away, but I had to wait until they had sold [Aaron Wan-Bissska],” the full-back told Viaplay.
“You don’t just say goodbye to Bayern, but I was ready for something else. That was due to many things, but I don’t want to talk about that. I always wanted to go to the Premier League, but I knew that I would take a step after Ajax. No sooner said than done.”
United kept a clean sheet against Fulham to open the new campaign, but a late Brighton & Hove Albion goal suffocated them when they fell behind and managed to come back.
The tests will be tougher, with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
