Real Madrid are reportedly willing to pay Liverpool a fee to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold before the start of their Club World Cup campaign in June.
The England international’s contract at Anfield is set to expire on June 30, but Los Blancos want to secure his services earlier to ensure his availability for the tournament.
Alexander-Arnold’s Contract Situation
Alexander-Arnold has yet to agree to a new deal with Liverpool, leaving the Reds at risk of losing their homegrown talent on a free transfer this summer.
Real Madrid had previously made a failed £20m approach for the 26-year-old in January and have been waiting for him to run down his contract.

However, with the Club World Cup campaign looming, Real Madrid are now willing to pay a fee to sign Alexander-Arnold earlier.
The tournament begins on June 18, and Los Blancos want to ensure that the England international is part of their squad.
FIFA’s Exceptional Window Rule
Even if Real Madrid fail to agree on a fee with Liverpool, they can still register Alexander-Arnold for the latter stages of the Club World Cup.
FIFA’s ‘exceptional window’ rule allows teams to add two players to their squad from June 27 to July 3.
Liverpool’s Contract Negotiations with Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool boss Arne Slot remains optimistic that Alexander-Arnold will sign a new deal at Anfield.

The 26-year-old has been an integral player for the Reds this season, scoring three goals and providing seven assists in 37 matches.

Salah, on the other hand, has openly admitted that he is playing this season as if it’s his last at Anfield.
