Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the loan signing of Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel, with an option to buy in the summer.
The 19-year-old French forward will wear the number 11 shirt for Spurs, a jersey previously donned by notable players like Gary Lineker, Rafael Van der Vaart, and Gareth Bale.
Transfer Details and Buy Option
The loan deal includes an option for Tottenham to sign Tel permanently for around £45.9m in the summer.
If activated, Tel will reportedly sign a six-year contract with Spurs until the end of the 2030-31 campaign.

Tel’s Career Statistics and Recent Form
Tel has accumulated 16 goals and seven assists in 83 appearances for Bayern Munich across all competitions.
However, he only managed one assist in 14 games during the first half of the 2023-24 campaign.
The Dramatic Transfer Saga
Tel’s transfer to Tottenham was a long and winding road, with the young Frenchman initially expressing his desire to leave Bayern Munich in January.
Tottenham, Arsenal, and Manchester United were all linked with Tel, but Spurs ultimately won the race for his signature after a dramatic U-turn.
Debut Date and Upcoming Fixtures
Tel is still awaiting a work permit, which may delay his debut for Tottenham.
However, he is expected to be available for Spurs’ FA Cup fourth-round tie against Aston Villa on Sunday or their Premier League clash with Manchester United on February 16.
