Guardiola: My Priority Is Manchester City, Not England

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City is his sole focus amid England job speculation.

Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola maintains his focus is solely on the upcoming season.

With his contract nearing its final year, Guardiola acknowledges his tenure is winding down but remains tight-lipped on his future plans.

The highly decorated manager, who has won six Premier League titles since 2016, has previously expressed interest in international management.

However, with the England job vacant following Gareth Southgate‘s departure, Guardiola insists his priorities lie with Manchester City.

The FA is currently searching for a new coach ahead of the 2026 World Cup, with Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, and Mauricio Pochettino among the top contenders.

While reports suggest the FA may consider an interim manager before approaching Guardiola, the City boss remains committed to his club for now.

Guardiola said:

“I’m really excited for this season that’s coming.”

“Like every season I need the break, I need it definitely, but after that I charge my batteries and I have the same energy like usual and I know the competition is coming,

I will be who we are, who I am. I’m completely focused on that.”

Manchester City began their US preseason schedule with a narrow 4-3 defeat to Celtic, with AC Milan and Barcelona awaiting them in upcoming friendlies.
