Real Madrid Surprises with New Return Date for Jude Bellingham’s Injury

Real Madrid are looking to speed up midfielder Jude Bellingham’s return from injury and could call up the Englishman for their first game after the international break.

A foot injury ruled out Bellingham on August 18 and he is expected to miss more than a month with a serious problem that will keep him out of England’s squad for September’s match against the Republic of Ireland in Finland.

Few expected Bellingham to return to action this month, but, according to The Athletic, the 21-year-old is expected to travel to Real Sociedad on September 14.

Not only could Bellingham travel, but manager Carlo Ancelotti is considering giving him more game time as he looks to combat a worsening injury problem during the international break. Eduardo Camavinga remains sidelined, while Dani Ceballos is expected to be out for up to two months with an ankle injury. Aurélien Tchouameni withdrew earlier in the week after suffering a problem, as did left-back Ferland Mendy.

The hurt didn’t stop there. Central defender Eder Militao was released by the Brazilian team after complaining of a thigh problem, before news of a two-week absence for 19-year-old defender Jacobo Ramon began to emerge. Paired with the long-term injured David Alaba, Ancelotti has a major problem in central defence.

The growing problems could prompt Ancelotti to recall Bellingham early, although AS still expects the midfielder to miss another three weeks. Real Madrid are under pressure as they haven’t started this season, with just eight points from four games. If he finishes second in the La Liga standings, he is already four points behind Hansi Flick’s FC Barcelona.
