Rodrygo Explains How He Plans to Support Estevao Following Brazil Debut

Rodrygo promised to pass on his experience to Estevao when the future Chelsea player made his debut for the Brazilian national team.

The 17-year-old came on as a substitute in the Selecao’s 1-0 win over Ecuador in FIFA World Cup qualifying earlier this week.

Estevao agreed to join Chelsea from Palmeiras in the summer of 2025 for a fee that could reach £51million, and his rise to stardom continued in this remarkable way for his country.

Real Madrid striker Rodrygo, despite being only 23 years old, is considered one of the most experienced players in the Brazilian team these days. Speaking to Lance, Rodrygo revealed that he will do everything in his power to help young people in the country settle into their new environment.

“Regardless of age, I know I’m very young, I’m only 23, but I end up being the most experienced of the group,” he said.

“You see Estevao at 17, [Luiz] Henrique at 18. So, they are very young boys, so even though I’m young, I can pass on some of this experience to them.

“And there are also older players who pass on some of this experience to me. So, I think that, in short, it’s what the teacher said, about sharing responsibilities. Everyone knows their role, everyone has to take responsibility for it. And that’s the way. I think that when we really manage to do it, everyone is doing well, everyone takes responsibility, we’ll achieve great things.”

Estevao is a true winger, but his agent has confirmed that Chelsea plan to use him as a striker when he arrives at Stamford Bridge in the 2025/26 season.
