Man Utd to Meet After Villa Clash Amid Ten Hag’s Uncertain Future

Manchester United officials are expected to meet two days after Aston Villa’s clash with Erik ten Hoag in disappointing results.

According to The Athletic, the club’s management will meet in London, a sign that the pressure will increase after a bad start to the season.

The meeting, which has been scheduled for some time, will be attended by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford, both representing INEOS, CEO Omar Barada, sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox. American Vice Chairman Joel Glazer is scheduled to fly from the US for this event, and will further emphasize the importance of this event.

A meeting in Manchester is also on the agenda, although it is unclear whether the team’s general manager will discuss the current and future of Ten Hag’s squad in the comments.

United, currently 12th in the Premier League table with just five goals, are yet to win their first two Europa League games, casting doubt on Ten Hag’s tactical approach.

The Dutch boss was given a lifeline against Porto thanks to Harry Maguire’s injury time goal and now faces the tough task of playing away to Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Athletic report that Ratcliffe will travel to Birmingham to watch United play. It was the INEOS boss’ first time in the stands since the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool earlier this season. The outcome of this game will go a long way in setting the tone for the upcoming executive session if Ten Hag’s future is discussed.

United are said to have formed a three-man executive committee – comprising Ratcliffe, Joel Glazer and INEOS sporting director Brailsford – who will be responsible for the final decisions on Ten Hag’s position. Their assessment is based on feedback from those involved in the day-to-day operations of the club, including Berrada, Ashworth and Wilcox.

Ten Hag’s position continues to weaken as disappointing results continue to mount. United’s recent form in just two of their seven games – against Southampton in the Premier League and Barnsley in the FA Cup – has failed to allay concerns. In particular, the 3-0 losses to Liverpool and Tottenham have caused frustration among the fans and the hierarchy. The Porto deal is another disappointment, and if things don’t improve with Villa, the Dutch manager may be asked to pick up Carrington.
