Manchester United Enter Race for Espanyol Goalkeeper Joan Garcia Amid Andre Onana Concerns

Manchester United have reportedly joined Arsenal in the pursuit of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, as the Red Devils consider signing a replacement for Andre Onana in the summer transfer window.

Onana’s Struggles at Manchester United

Onana, who joined Manchester United from Ajax in 2023, has been the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, but his performances have been marred by errors.

The Cameroonian has kept just 21 clean sheets in 132 appearances, and his latest mistake against Ipswich Town has raised concerns about his future at Old Trafford.

According to SPORT, Garcia has emerged as a serious target for Manchester United, with the club viewing him as a potential replacement for Onana.

Arsenal, who were close to signing Garcia last summer, are also interested in the 23-year-old goalkeeper.

Espanyol Open to Selling Garcia

Espanyol director Fran Garagarza has admitted that the club may be willing to sell Garcia for less than his €30m (£24.8m) release clause.

Garagarza revealed that Arsenal had offered around €20m (£16.6m) for Garcia last summer, but the club is open to negotiations.

Manchester United’s Advantage in the Transfer Race

While Arsenal can offer Champions League football next season, Manchester United’s promise of a starting spot may give them an edge in the transfer race.
