Arsenal and Manchester United Dealt Blow in Pursuit of Jobe Bellingham

Arsenal and Manchester United’s hopes of signing Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham in January have been dashed, with the Black Cats determined to keep hold of the 19-year-old.

Bellingham has been impressive in the Championship, contributing four goals and three assists from 23 games, and Sunderland are keen to retain his services as they push for promotion.

Sunderland Valuation of £20m a Sticking Point

According to reports, Sunderland value Bellingham at around £20m, a significant profit on the £1.5m they paid to sign him from Birmingham City in 2023.

While Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in the England Under-21 international, they are unwilling to meet Sunderland’s valuation, and the Black Cats are determined to resist offers and focus on their promotion bid.

Alternative Midfield Targets for Arsenal and Manchester United

With Bellingham unlikely to join them in January, Arsenal and Manchester United will have to look elsewhere to strengthen their midfield options.

The Gunners are reportedly interested in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson, although his £70m valuation may prove a stumbling block.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are said to be pursuing Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes, and Atalanta BC lynchpin Ederson is also on their radar.

Summer Transfer Plans for Arsenal and Manchester United

Both Arsenal and Manchester United are expected to be active in the summer transfer market, with several players potentially leaving the Emirates and Old Trafford.

Jorginho and Thomas Partey are in the last six months of their deals, while offers will be entertained for Manchester United pair Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.
