Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira aims for inclusion in the squad for the first leg of the Gunners’ last-16 Champions League tie in Porto next week.
After undergoing groin surgery in November, Vieira is progressing well in his recovery and nearing a return to full training.
The 23-year-old remains hopeful about returning to action within the next two weeks after a three-month absence.
Vieira’s comeback would provide a much-needed lift for Arsenal, who have faced significant midfield injury woes of late.

Emile Smith Rowe was absent from Sunday’s victory against West Ham due to an ankle problem, while Thomas Partey continues his recovery from a thigh injury sustained in October.
As a result, Arteta had three academy players on the bench last weekend, and 16-year-old Ethan Nwaneri was brought on to play the final 15 minutes in midfield.
Before his injury, Vieira had appeared in eight of Arsenal’s 13 Premier League matches and netted a goal in a 5-0 victory against Sheffield United in October.
In his final league appearance for the Gunners—a 3-1 win over Burnley in November—he received a red card.
However, Vieira swiftly bounced back by featuring and scoring for the club’s Under-21 side just three days later.
While experiencing discomfort in his groin earlier in the season, it was initially hoped that the issue could be resolved without resorting to surgery.
Arsenal aims to extend their winning streak as they prepare to face Burnley over the weekend before traveling to take on Porto in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League.
