Aston Villa Set New Premier League Record Under Former Arsenal Boss Unai Emery

Aston Villa have been hugely impressive in recent weeks and extend their form into the match against Fulham.

Emery sides Seven wins in the last eight games mean they have the joint best form in English competition, equalling Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City and Arteta’s Arsenal.

Villa have now scored in all 20 league games with Emery at the helm, which is the most consecutive games in Premier League history that a team with a new manager have scored in.

Villa have not played European football since 2011, when they competed in the Europa League play-off rounds.

However, they are looking set to make a return to the continent, a deserved reward for their superb efforts under Emery.

Since Emery’s first Premier League game in charge of Aston Villa on November 6, no side has won more games in the competition than them (13 – level with Arsenal).

It is also only the Gunners (44) have picked up more points than Villa (42) during this period.

In their last 10 games, they have taken an incredible 26 points from the 30 available.

Since the appointment of Emery,  Villa were sixteenth, having taken just 13 points from 12 games. Nineteen games later, they have taken 38 points to move up to sixth and within sight of the European places.

Although they have played more games played than United and Newcastle, the top places are now only six points away.
