Juventus with 2-0 lead, fumbled it in the space of 72 seconds for 2-2, Dusan Vlahovic missed a penalty, but they eventually scraped a controversial 4-2 win over Sampdoria with Adrien Rabiot’s brace.
Manolo Gabbiadini should’ve done better in the opening minutes when firing wide as he’d gone clear on a ball over the top,
then hit another straight at Mattia Perin after a cheap Gleison Bremer giveaway.
Bremer made up for it moments later, towering above the crowd to nod a Filip Kostic corner into the ground from seven yards for the Juventus opener.
Vlahovic was sent clear by Fabio Miretti’s through ball only to hesitate and be blocked off by Bruno Amione.
The resulting corner was cleared, but Miretti put in another cross for Adrien Rabiot’s bullet header and 2-0.
That was the sixth headed goal in the last eight in all competition for Juve.

Samp again failed to make the most of a defensive error, this time from Danilo when Filip Djuricic’s effort was charged down, but those warnings were not heeded by the Bianconeri.
It was an extraordinary turnaround in the space of 72 seconds.
First, Medhi Leris saw his shot deflected by Danilo into the path of Tommaso Augello for a ferocious finish from 12 yards.
Another Bremer header on a corner was this time deflected wide, but Nicolò Fagioli received a very harsh yellow card when he seemed to tackle Djuricic cleanly.
A Leris glancing header flashed wide on the Tomas Rincon cross, but Rabiot restored Juve’s lead.
He sprinted forward, was blocked off, then controlled the Fagioli pass with his chest to blast into the roof of the net.
Sampdoria protested that there was handball, but the footage was not considered clear enough for VAR to overturn the decision.
