Former Inter striker Jurgen Klinsmann has confirmed Alessandro Bastoni, Nicolò Barella and Lautaro Martinez will be the key Nerazzurri players in the Champions League Final against Manchester City who have a weak point on the wings.
Champions League final is scheduled for June 10, 2023, at Ataturk Stadium.
The ex-Germany international previewed next week’s Champions League Final between the Serie A giants and the Premier League champions .
“I feel like any other Interista, but there is a difference. I’ll watch the game from Seul, work has brought me here.”
The Nerazzurri have lost 11 Serie A games this season and not many expected Simone Inzaghi’s boys to reach the Istanbul Final this term.
Klinsmann, who is currently in charge of the South Korea national team was among them.
“Reaching the quarter-finals already seemed a big target, but who would expect the Final? Now anything can happen,
Manchester City are phenomenal, but Inter have nothing to lose and this is almost an advantage.
“Inter will need identity and a sense of belonging.
That’s why I believe in the Italians, especially Alessandro Bastoni and Nicolò Barella.”
“It’s not a coincidence that Italian football has flown high in European competitions after World Cup exclusion. It was a proud reaction.”
Do Pep Guardiola’s City have weak points?
“Every team has,” argued the 58-year-old.
“Just think about the old Pep’s Barcelona which, with time, was defused especially on the wings.
I think Inzaghi will find [City’s weak points] They’ll have chances and will need to make the most of them.”
The Final at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul will also be a meeting between two of the best strikers in Europe this season, Erling Haaland and Lautaro Martinez.
“Haaland is an incredible No.9, he’d demolish a bus, but Lautaro has evolved and is not far behind.
He’s on the same level as the top strikers”
El Toro will surely start, but there are still doubts about his strike partner.
Will Inzaghi go for Edin Dzeko or Romelu Lukaku?
“There’s too much concern about which striker will start.
Perhaps who will finish the game is more important.
Dzeko could start, but Lukaku can be devastating from minute 60.”
Manchester beat Real with a 4-0 (5-1) score in the second leg. Meanwhile, Inter celebrated a 3-0 aggregate victory over Milan.
Pep Guardiola‘s side will be heading to the Champions League final at their best form,
after lifting the Premier League title of the 2022/23 season.
Inter, meanwhile, secured the Coppa Italia with a victory over Fiorentina! Lautaro Martínez with the brace.
