Jurgen Klopp Provides Mohamed Salah’s Return Date Following Hamstring Injury

Salah injury update

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an optimistic update on Mohamed Salah’s fitness, indicating that the star forward is aiming for a comeback next week.

Salah sustained a hamstring injury while representing Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations in mid-January and was initially expected to be sidelined until the end of February,

potentially jeopardizing his availability for the Reds’ Carabao Cup final clash against Chelsea.

Klopp Reveals

“We hope he can be part of parts of training next week, so we have to see, he’s going through all paces.”

“But look, it’s positive. It’s either next week or the week after, if you ask him it’s next week.”

Liverpool travel to the Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford on Saturday 17 February in what could be Salah’s first game back.

The Reds have not won away at the Bees since their promotion to the Premier League, drawing 3-3 in 2021/22 and losing 3-1 last season, though they did prevail 3-0 at Anfield earlier this campaign.

If Salah does not make his return at Brentford, he will be eyeing Luton Town‘s trip to Anfield on Wednesday 21 February,

four days prior to their meeting with Chelsea at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.

Salah’s last game for Liverpool came on New Year’s Day in a 4-2 victory at home to Newcastle United.

In the seven matches played so far in his absence, Liverpool have won five, drawn one and lost one, with their unbeaten run ending at the hands of title rivals Arsenal on Sunday.
