Despite this setback, Burnley remained resilient, and just before halftime, O’Shea rose to powerfully head a corner into the far top corner, scoring his first Premier League goal and leveling the scoreline.
After halftime, Liverpool emerged with renewed vigor and swiftly regained the lead within seven minutes.
Harvey Elliott, who came on as a substitute at halftime, delivered a ball across the goal that deflected before Diaz lunged in with a close-range header to find the back of the net.
Burnley had opportunities to equalize once more, but Kelleher showcased his skills with a brilliant save from David Fofana in a one-on-one encounter,
while Wilson Odobert sent the rebound wide with a powerful strike.
Fofana found himself through on goal again, but with only the goalkeeper to beat, he narrowly missed the target with his curling effort, drifting just wide of the post.
With just 11 minutes remaining, Liverpool secured all three points.
Jota found himself with another corner opportunity, but after his initial shot was blocked, he passed to Elliott, whose floated delivery reached Nunez.
Nunez leaned back and directed a header into the far bottom corner, extending Liverpool’s lead.
Burnley faced an insurmountable challenge, and although Liverpool had another chance in added time, Trafford denied a close-range effort, preventing Nunez from further capitalizing on the opportunity.
